Cosmetic standards require a slightly projecting appearance, but often it is flat or even inverted.
cosmetic standards require a slightly projecting appearance, but often
it is flat or even inverted.
Inversion of the nipple is caused by a short milk duct system that
pulls the nipple towards the chest wall and stops it from projecting.
Correction
surgery is very simple and offers long lasting results (4% recurrence
rate). Scarring is scarcely visible as the scarring quality of the skin
of the nipple-areola complex is generally very good (see picture).
Complications: breast feeding can be compromised due to sectioning of milk ducts, infection, asymmetry.
How long does surgery take?: less than 60 minutes
Anaesthesia: local or sedation
Hospitalization: no
Post-op: antibiotics for 3 days, no bra for 15 days.
